PM Nikol Pashinyan personally hears out protesters demanding education minister’s resignation

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with protestors who are staging a sit-in outside the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports demanding the resignation of Minister Arayik Harutyunyan. The PM was heading to the foreign ministry for an unrelated ceremony nearby.

The demonstrators told the PM that “the minister has failed the education and science policy in Armenia”.

“If he were a plunderer and were to accept money at exams no one would complain right? Arayik Harutyunyan does not implement the educational policy in Armenia, it is done by the government, and I have addressed this issue yesterday at the Cabinet meeting in detail. I do not share the opinion that some people are anti-national and some others are national. There hasn’t been a more national government than ours in Armenia,” the PM said.
