State Oversight Service probes Emergency Situations Ministry at minister’s own proposal

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. The State Oversight Service is carrying out studies at the Ministry of Emergency Situations at the proposal of Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Tsolakyan himself.

Tsolakyan told reporters he seeks to prove that allegations by former employees on violations are groundless.

“I was the one who asked the prime minister to carry out inspections here,” he said, adding that several former employees have brought forward allegations of violations after being sacked. “And based on this I asked them to come and check, to determine and punish if violations exist,” he said, adding that the allegations started after dismissing the head of the rescue service.

Tsolakyan said the rescue service head was sacked because of poor implementation of duties. Tsolakyan said the man was even abroad during the latest series of wildfires and didn’t care to return.

He said only 9 out of 6500 employees have signed a paper on alleging violations in the ministry. Tsolakyan argues they did so because they were aware of forthcoming structural changes, potential dismissals or demotions.

He said the State Oversight Service continues the inspections and he has ordered to provide the inspectors with all required documents.
