YEREVAN, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian visited the Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences where he met with the University’s teaching staff, the Presidential Office told Armenpress.

“It’s a great honor for me to be in this important educational center today”, the President said. “My contacts with the University started when I was a student. I think the Brusov University is one of the most stable universities in Armenia with its vision, quality and principles. It’s a perfect university because it has educated many generations and gave bright personalities and names to our country. Just few minutes ago we have opened one of the classrooms which is named after your university graduates – Gevorg and Gohar Vardanyan”.

The President said he knows that 90% of the university students are girls, and taking this chance, congratulated all women and girls on March 8. “During my whole life March 8 has been a day of women, motherhood and women’s deep values. I am happy that we celebrate not one day, but a month from March 8 to April 7. In reality it would be better if the whole year was declared as a year for women, and we were careful to our mothers, sisters, women and girls, young and beautiful students which are in your corridors.

Our mothers and wives play a great role in our life. Let’s not forget that each of us starts his life through his mother and from the first day mother is the main contact with the world”, the President said.

He appreciated the fact that the role of women is gradually increasing in public, business and political life. “I have numerous examples of life that female colleagues, women have worked more organized, talented and effective than my male colleagues”, Armen Sarkissian said. “One of our greatest national values is the Armenian family. A family that is the foundation of our state, our statehood and our nation’s existence”.

At the end he addressed a call to men: “After showing attention this month, let’s continue to do so that 2019 will be a year of an Armenian woman, Armenian mother and Armenian girl”.
