Nobel Prize winner Zhores Alferov passed away at 88
15:30, 2 March 2019YEREVAN, MARCH 2, ARMENPRESS. Soviet and Russian physicist and academic Zhores Alferov has passed away at the age of 88 in St. Petersburg, RT reports citing RIA Novosti.
Zhores Alferov was born in Vitebsk, Belarus on March 15, 1930.
Alferov is credited with advancing the field of modern heterostructure physics and electronics. He is the inventor of the heterotransistor and was awarded the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics.
