Export from Armenia to Russia increases by 239%

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The export from Armenia to Russia comprised 248 million USD in January-October 2017. It increased by 239% compared to 2015, Andrei Babko – Russia’s Trade Representative to Armenia, told reporters on December 13, Armenpress reports.

According to him, Armenia, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), having customs privileges had an opportunity to export more products to the Russian market.

“The trade turnover between Armenia and Russia comprised 989,7 million USD in January-October 2015, and 1 billion 336,6 million USD in the same period of 2017. In 2015 the export from Armenia to Russia comprised 179 million USD, and it increased by 239% in 2017 comprising 428 million USD”, Andrei Babko said.

He added that the import from Russia to Armenia comprised 810 million USD in 2015, whereas in 2017 this number was 908,6 million USD or an increase of 112%.

62% of Armenian products imported to Russia in 2017 comprised the agricultural products, 11.5% - precious metals and stones, 9.2% - textile and light industry, and 5.9% - machinery and equipment.

“46.9% of Russian products imported to Armenia in 2017 comprised the mineral waters, 16.8% - agricultural products, 11.9% - machinery and equipment, and 9.1% - precious metals and stones”, Babko said.
