YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS. Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs, on June 14 held a meeting with Thomas Schrapel, Regional Director of the “Konrad Adenauer” foundation, press service of Armenia’s Parliament told Armenpress.

Welcoming the guest, Armen Ashotyan said the foreign affairs committee highly appreciates the partnership relations with the foundation and hopes for further close cooperation and implementation of joint programs.

During the meeting the sides talked about Armenia-EU relations, as well as the importance of signing of Armenia-EU new Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership agreement which will be held in November at the Eastern Partnership summit. In this context, Ashotyan said the signing of the agreement will positively affect both sides, adding that the win-win mutually beneficial strategy formed as a result of the signing will be the key to success for bilateral ties.

The officials also discussed the opportunities to implement joint programs with the foundation, exchanged views and ideas on upcoming programs which will boost Armenia-EU ties.

A number of programs being implemented by the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs were also discussed. In particular, the creation of ‘Analytic Council’ working group by the committee and its goals were touched upon.

Thomas Schrapel welcomed the committee’s such initiative and expressed hope the further cooperation will be active and effective.
