YEREVAN, MAY 3, ARMENPRESS. Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan on May 3 addressed a congratulatory message on the World Press Freedom Day, press service of the Yerevan Municipality told Armenpress.

The message reads:

“Dear representatives of mass media,

I cordially congratulate you on the World Press Freedom Day.

At the current stage of global developments, when the participation of civil society in the decision-making process on issues of public importance becomes more and more important, the role of mass media becomes more responsible both as an information source and as an influential tool for protection of freedom of speech and human rights.

Many representatives of Armenian media field today bear their responsible post with an honor and are able to consistently draw the public’s attention on the most urgent problems with high professional qualities which then become precedents and change stereotypes, people, including also our reality. And it is not coincidental that I fairly consider you as fourth power.

I once again congratulate you on the World Press Freedom Day, wish you good health, success and new achievements. I also wish you to continue your professional work with an honor for the benefit of our country and the capital city of Yerevan”.
