Protestants demand Canadian leadership to exert pressure on Turkey regarding Armenian Genocide issue
YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARMENPRESS. Thousands of Canadians and representatives of the Armenian community in Canada gathered at Ottawa’s Parliament Hill on April 24 and protested against Turkey’s continuous denial of that crime.
“Armenpress” reports the protestants gathered near the parliament and thanked the authorities of Canada for recognizing the realities of 1915 and called on the government to exert pressure on its NATO ally Turkey so as the latter faces its past and puts an end to the denialism of the Armenian Genocide.
Following the assembly at the parliament, the protestants headed to the embassy of Turkey, where they held a peaceful demonstration against Turkish denialism and the numerous cases of human rights violations in that country, demanding justice for the memory of the 1.5 million innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.
