YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Malta on a working visit on March 29 to take part in the sessions and summit of the Congress of the European People’s Party (EPP), press service of the President’s Office told Armenpress.

Before the launch of first plenary session, President Sargsyan visited the Hastings Gardens in Valletta where he was welcomed by the city Mayor Alexiei Dingli, the parliamentarians and Armenian community representatives of Malta.

The President laid a wreath at the Armenian cross stone located in the Hastings Gardens. It was erected on December 22, 2009 by the initiative of the Armenian community of Malta as a sign of gratitude to Malta for the support provided to Armenians who found a shelter in this island in 1375 from Cilician Armenia and who survived the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

President Sargsyan paid a tribute near the cross stone together with Mayor Dingli and Armenian community representatives.
