Russia isn’t indifferent over fate of OSCE Yerevan office, says Lavrov

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. Russia isn’t indifferent over the fate of the OSCE Yerevan office, Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian in Moscow.

“We always assist the principle, according to which offices are opened in different countries – based on the desire of the given OSCE member state. In this case we aren’t indifferent especially because the Armenian office is headed by a Russia citizen”, Lavrov said.

He stressed that the programs, which the given office in any country is engaged in, must be in line with the OSCE principles and must not cause any suspicion. “In this case questions were raised by our Azerbaijani colleagues. Initially the German, and then the Austrian chairmanship is actively carrying out works in order to solve those issues. The latest proposal of the Austrian chairmanship solves all problems. I hope we will be able to return to it soon and it will help in overcoming the not so desirable situation for the OSCE”, he said.
