Top officials of Armenia and NKR pay tribute to fallen soldiers in Yerablur Pantheon

YEREVAN, JANUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Army’s establishment, the top leadership of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh visited the Yerablur pantheon and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, who gave their lives for the independence of their country.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of Nagorno Karabakh Bako Sahakyan, Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Garegin II, Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and other senior officials visited the pantheon. The officials laid flowers at the graves of Commander Vazgen Sargsyan, Commander Andranik and the memorial for the fallen soldiers of the Nagorno Karabakh War.

January 28 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Army. On January 28, 1992, the Government adopted a historic decision “On the Defense Ministry of Armenia”, heralding the formation of the Armenian Army. The first draft took place in May of 1992.

On the occasion of Army Day, an awarding ceremony will be held in the Presidential Palace of Armenia. A concert is scheduled to take place in the evening.

On January 29, Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Garegin II will hold a Mass in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiatsin.
