Two critically wounded NKR soldiers hospitalized in Yerevan

YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Two servicemen are hospitalized in critical condition after being airlifted to Yerevan, Colonel Kamavor Khachatryan, head of the military-medical department of the Armed Forces told a press conference in ARMENPRESS.

“Serviceman Alexey Avanesyan was wounded in the lower limbs, he suffered a bone defect wound in the knee area. He underwent surgery and we were forced to perform an amputation of one lower limb. He is in critical condition, however we see stability. Initially we attempted to save the limb, but the wound was large and we failed. He was wounded by Azerbaijani fire three days ago while on duty”, Khachatryan said.

Regarding Gurgen Sargsyan, Khachatryan said the soldier was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. According to him, the wound is quite serious; the soldier is currently on life support.

Khachatryan says doctors are doing their best to save the soldier’s life.

Private Gurgen Sargsyan suffered a gunshot wound to the head at 23:55, January 16 while on duty in an unspecified military position, as result of negligent use and violation of firearm safety rules by a junior Sergeant.
