YEREVAN, JANUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. Freight forwarding to Armenia and from Armenia was put on halt when the Upper Lars checkpoint was shut down in December due to bad weather conditions and the resulting difficulties in the port of Poti.

Karen Beglaryan, head of the risk management, customs analytics and statistics department of the state revenue committee told ARMENPRESS customs authorities were operating on a heightened regime in the period of January 3-8. “Due to the abovementioned problems cargo shipments to Armenia were imported through the Bagratashen checkpoint. We had imports through the Meghri checkpoint as well”, he said.

According to Beglaryan, the Upper Lars checkpoint is open and is operating normally.
