Criminals sentenced for misdemeanor to be able to vote
17:18, 11 January 2017YEREVAN, JANUARY 11, ARMENPRESS. Individuals convicted for misdemeanor (crimes of lesser seriousness) will be able to vote in the upcoming Parliamentary elections, Tigran Mukuchyan, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission told reporters.
“If previously convicts were not taking part in the elections, now in accordance to the new Electoral Code some convicted individuals have the chance to vote”, Mukuchyan said.
He clarified that the possibility to vote applies to those individuals who are sentenced for misdemeanor; crimes of lesser seriousness.
