YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS. The 16th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie unanimously adopted a decision to hold the organization’s 17th summit in Armenia in 2018, press service of the Armenian MFA told “Armenpress”.

After the adopted decision Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian delivered a speech during which he addressed President Serzh Sargsyan’s letter of gratitude to the heads of states and governments of Francophonie.

The letter reads:

“Honorable President of the 16th Summit of La Francophonie,

Honorable President of Madagascar,

Your Excellencies,

Ladies and Gentlemen, Heads of States, Governments and Delegations,

Mrs. Secretary General,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I want to express our gratitude to your decision to hold the 17th Summit of La Francophonie in Armenia. It is a great honor for Armenia and the Armenian people to host the Francophonie high-level meeting.

The evidence of this is the trust and solidarity towards our country, which had an important input on spreading Francophonie values following the years of Armenia’s membership to the organization.

This decision is also an important message to all Francophonie countries of Central and Eastern Europe, for which the upcoming summit is a chance to once again value the Francophonie in our region.

We are determined to ensure the success of this important event of La Francophonie. Our country will make all efforts to hold it at the highest level by this celebrating the 10th anniversary of Armenia’s membership to the organization. Today we recommit ourselves to organize at best the 17th Summit of La Francophonie”.
