YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. An official reception on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence took place in Aleppo on September 25.

The Governor and Mayor of Aleppo, members of Syrian parliament, other state officials and religious leaders of the Armenian community and representatives of the Armenian community were present at the event, “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of MFA Armenia.

Armenia's Consulate General in Aleppo Tigran Gevorgyan delivered a speech, referring to the achievements of Armenia during the 25 years of independence. He also highlighted the huge contribution of Armenians in Aleppo in state building process of Armenia. The Consulate General also stated that now, when the Syrian-Armenian community faces numerous challenges due to the Syrian crisis, the Republic of Armenia did and does its best to support and help them. Tigran Gevorgyan bestowed state awards on a number of representatives of Armenian community in Aleppo on behalf of the Armenian President.
