Armenian economists suggest reestablishing Ministry of Industry

YEREVAN, AUGUST 31, ARMENPRESS. The Eurasian Expert Club suggests reestablishing Ministry of Industry, member of the club, candidate of economic sciences Ashot Tevikyan told at “Armenpress” media hall on August 31. He introduced a number of other proposals as well, which express the club’s vision of Armenia’s future economic development. “Rebirth of science and restoration of technological production, as well as the creation of military industrial complex and its constant development must become Armenia’s national priorities. We must be able to ensure the transition to the modern development model. In order to achieve that goal, a union must be established in Armenia that will engage in the elaboration of the modern development model”, the economist said. In his words, the mentioned union and the Government must collaborate to achieve the desired goals.

The economist also added that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) can serve a solid ground for the realization of those goals.

Referring to the proposal of Russian President Putin to join Russia policy of import substitution and produce equipment for over 25 branches, Ashot Tevikyan noted, “The spheres related to high-tech production and military industrial complex are of special interest for Armenia”.

He expressed conviction that real opportunities rise for Armenia in the sidelines of the EAEU to solve the issues of unemployment and paying proper salaries.
