YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, ARMENPRESS. The Justice Ministry issued an announcement regarding the detention conditions of several gunmen – who had ambushed the police station in Yerevan – in the Hospital of Convicts.

The announcement reads:

“The attorneys of several members of the armed group have carried out another attempt to confuse the public on August 23.

We want to inform the public that regarding the allegations of improper medical assistance to the members of the armed group in the hospital of convicts – published by media and their attorneys – representatives of the Correctional Service visited the hospital and the detained individuals, reviewed the situation at the scene and were informed that the detainees have no complaints regarding the medical care and treatment in the hospital.

Regarding the allegations that inmate Hovhannes Harutyunyan hasn’t received proper medical care, the Correctional Department of the Justice Ministry informs the following to avoid further ungrounded disinformation.

From July 27 to August 23 – from the very beginning of being transferred to the hospital of convicts, Hovhannes Harutyunyan underwent various medical examinations, including abdominal and pelvic ultrasound and X-ray of the right leg, consultations of urologist and neurosurgeon. In addition, he has received a plaster cast.

In addition, every 2nd day Harutyunyan is being examined by specialists of “Erebuni” medical center.

It is noteworthy that all details of the examinations are kept in his medical records.

Hovhannes Harutyunyan has been receiving painkillers, antibiotics, his wounds are treated, and bandages are changed timely.

As of this moment, other inmates are being treated in the hospital of convicts, who are in need of care and diverse treatment, which is provided by professional and experienced medical personnel of the hospital.
