YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. Artik city returned to its normal life after weeks of large floods. The streets of the city, as well as the yard areas of houses are cleaned up, Artik Mayor’s advisor Melsida Kikoyan said in an interview with “Armenpress”.

“During this time a huge work has been done. The yard areas of the houses are cleaned up. The floods have brought huge stones, silt, sand. All places where it was possible to bring technology were cleaned up”, Kikoyan said.

The next stage is the draining system reconstruction works, for which a lot of money is needed, the state support is expected here. As for the roads, Kikoyan said the roads were open since June 29. Currently there are no closed roads in Artik.

Kikoyan informed that the financial resources provided both by the Government, and the private sector were distributed to the residents.

“The residents have received that assistance. All residents have accepted that money, all of them have received it, except from two residents who are in Russia. The Government provided assistance to some of them for restoring their houses, some of them received assistance as a compensation for the lost livestock or corp. The money is being distributed based on the amount of the damage”, Kikoyan said.

On June 24 the main streets, houses of Artik city of Shirak province were filled with water as a result of heavy floods. The floods brought huge stones and silt.
