YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The first group of the Armenian athletes participating in the Olympic Games has departed for Rio de Janeiro, press service of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia informed “Armenpress”.

On July 25, at midnight, the first group of the Armenian delegation – the swimmers, weightlifters and athletes – travelled to the Olympic Games on Yerevan-Doha-Rio flight. Pashik Alaverdyan was leading the weightlifters' team, Robert Emmiyan, the president of the Athletics Federation, - the athletics team. The weightlifters left for Rio without Arakel Mirzoyan who will join them later.

The athletes' relatives and friends came to wish good luck to the Armenian Olympic team.

Another group of the Armenian athletes will depart for Rio on July 26 at night. The head of the delegation is ANOC Vice President Hrachya Rostomyan.
