Investigative Committee initiates criminal case on violation of norms of international 
humanitarian law during armed conflicts

YEREVAN, APRIL 14, ARMENPRESS. A criminal case was initiated in General Military Investigative Department on violation of the norms of international humanitarian law provided by international treaties during armed conflicts according to the Part 6 of the Article 390 of Republic of Armenia Criminal Code, “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

Through the motion of International Committee of the Red Cross and personal representative of the acting Head of the OSCE on April 10 the bodies of 18 Armenian servicemen, perished during the aggression unleashed by the Azeri on Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line from April 2 to April 5, 2016, were passed to the Armenian side.

Through external inspection of the bodies numerous injuries, traces of torture and defamation were recorded by forensic experts.

Forensic examinations were commissioned by the investigative body to find the cause of each of the Armenian servicemen, nature and gravity of bodily injuries, to find if they were causally connected with death, when the injury was inflicted - before or after death.

Additional information on the results of forensic examinations will be provided.
