YEREVAN, DECEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. President Serzh Sargsyan attended New Year and Christmas reception organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia on December 24.

As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Information and Mass Media of the Office to the President of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Republic congratulated the staff of the Ministry on coming holidays, thanked for the work done by the Ministry during the passing year, wished all the employees of the Ministry and their families health, happiness and success.

The President summed up year 2015 in his congratulatory speech, touched upon the achievements, failure and the challenges of the passing year and spoke about the plans and expectations of year 2016.

Stating that year 2015 was a memorable year saturated with events not only for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, but also numerous events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide were carried out with great honor and at a high level in motherland and many countries of the world. President of the Republic attached great importance to the staff of the Foreign Ministry for fulfilling that task.

Serzh Sargsyan also referred to other issue highly important for Armenia such as Armenia’s membership to the EAEU, start of negotiations with the EU over the new legal document, stating that the realistic decisions over being engaged in those integration processes have great influence on Armenia’s future development.

The President also talked about the peaceful negotiation process of Nagorno Karabakh settlement, mentioning with sorrow that the negotiations recorded no progress during the passing year, but the negotiation process goes on, and it is necessary to multiply efforts in this direction in the coming year.

Mentioning that the Foreign Ministry of Armenia will move to another administrative building next year, where more favorable working conditions are created, the President of the Republic expressed conviction that in the next year the employees of the Foreign ministry will do their job with more enthusiasm and devotion, with new ideas and projects, armed with newly gained knowledge, without which, the President is convinced, the state can record no success.
