Armenia NA Vice President urges oppositionists not to engage in petty speculations related to Constitutional Reforms

Armenia NA Vice President urges oppositionists not to engage in petty speculations related to
Constitutional Reforms

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. The developments of the recent months show that the issue of Constitutional Reforms in Armenia is a natural, agenda process, but not an artificial process as some representatives of the opposition kept stating months ago. The aforementioned was noted by Vice President of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov during discussion of draft Constitutional Reforms.

Sharmazanov emphasized that the political boycott that some of the oppositionists used to refer to, did not work out and it is proved by the fact that both during hearings and in this hall the representatives of all the political parties engage in meaningful discussions.  He added that naturally there can be parties “for” and “against” during the discussions and that this is an example of democracy.

“Constitutional Reforms Package has nothing to do with Serzh Sargsyan’s political fate. And I urge you not to engage in petty speculations. Serzh Sargsyan is the President of the Republican Party of Armenia and has remained the head of the political party for a long time. If you do not want to vote for the “Republican”, go and vote for Armenian National Congress. Who is preventing you from doing that? I, of course, understand some emotional outbursts of yours as you are not able to ensure majority even within your faction. You can’t convince the representatives of your own faction that there’s no need of Constitutional Reforms. Now of what are you trying to convince us? Go and convince members of your faction first.”, stated NA Vice President.
