Israeli scholar calls Israel and Armenia to "politically adopt" Yazidis

YEREVAN, AUGUST 19, ARMENPRESS. Israel and Armenia should 'Politically adopt' the Yazidis, victims of massacres and sexual slavery by the ISIL. As “Armenpress” reports, Polonsky Fellow of Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, Stefan Ihrig expressed such a viewpoint in the article published in The Huffington Post.
The article mentions that the history of mass media and atrocities in the modern world has taught us that the international community is unable to timely respond to massacres up till now and to effectively struggle to prevent and oppress them on time. The history of the last century provides a seemingly endless list of atrocities that were not stopped, and rarely was this ever for a lack of information about them.
In the 1890s great massacres of Armenians broke out in the Ottoman Empire; under Abdul Hamid II. Germany was especially close to the Ottoman Empire at the time and was rather well-informed about what happened. German printed press, based its own sources and English papers, reported about terrifying stories. And still they failed to instigate any great response by German society as such.
Moreover, 20 years after the massacres of Armenians by Hamid, during the years of the Armenian Genocide, one of German magazines tried to approve the indifferent attitude of international community towards the fate of Armenians. Another example of world community’s indifference is the Holocaust, during which the world failed to comprehend and stop the activities against Jews.
