Parliament Speaker calls on EC to struggle against Azerbaijani xenophobia

YEREVAN, 19 MAY, ARMENPRESS: The xenophobia of Azerbaijan's political elite and hostile rhetoric is serious concern for Armenia's authorities, the main target of which is Armenia and everything related to Armenia. The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Galust Sahakyan stated this at the session of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Yerevan.
“I consider it necessary to struggle against such manifestations, in the case of which the Council of Europe may have the most important role”, as Armenpress reports, the NA Speaker said, talking about the challenge, which the Council of Europe is facing, such as intolerance. “The intolerance generates racism, discrimination, and violence, which turn into crimes against the humanity,” Sahakyan underscored.
He emphasized that Armenia is an integral part of the European civilization with its past as well as its present, by its undertaken commitments related to the issues of strengthening of democracy, ruling of superiority of the law, fundamental freedoms and protection of the human rights.
