Armenia and Russia to sign agreement on financing NPP’s renovation

YEREVAN, JULY 4, ARMENPRESS. Armenia will sign an agreement with Russia on financing the renovation of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant by $ 300 million. During his visit to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Yervand Zakharyan noted that the negotiations with Russia are in the final stage. "Probably, the corresponding agreement will be signed in the coming days. The negotiations on financing were carried out between the Armenian and Russian Ministries of Finance and agreement was reached about 300 million dollars. It is about low interest and long-term loan” - reports “Armenpress”, citing Zakharyan. He informed that within the framework of the arrangements all the issues are included, connected with the provision of nuclear fuel until the year of 2026.

The renovation works of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant will start in 2017 and will be finished within 6 months, which will enable to extend the NPP’s operation period until 2026.
