Six cases of drowning registered in Lake Sevan July 1-10

YEREVAN, JULY 27, ARMENPRESS: Six cases of drowning have been registered in Lake Sevan July 1-10, one of the drowned was a fisherman and five were having rest. Nine cases have been registered in the Armenian provinces. The mentioned cases commander of the water rescue special squad Samvel Mkrtchyan explained with the changes of the weather.

Today at the meeting with reporters he said that they are carrying out all the necessary works in all the water territories of the republic and it may be testified by the circumstance that from July 10 till today no cases have been registered. The number of rescued people by them this year reaches 16.

The majority of the tragic incidents are registered after 8 pm when the service of the rescuers ends, or in the territories which are not under their control. This year the age of drowned people has not exceeded 30.

The commander said he is glad with the level of equipment of the service, but noted that the additional technology, uniforms and training will do good.

Samvel Mkrtchyan once again called on the people to swim only in the territories controlled by water rescuers. He said in the territory of Sevan 19 water rescuers points are functioning and the number of workers is 37 which Mkrtchyan considered not enough.
