Swedish lawmakers call for free movement of persons, goods along Lachin
Corridor

YEREVAN, APRIL 26, ARMENPRESS. A group of Members of the Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, have issued a joint statement calling for the restoration of free and unimpeded movement of persons and goods along the Lachin Corridor, stressing that the installation of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan is a violation of the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement.

The statement was released by the members of the Swedish parliament’s Sweden-Armenia Friendship Group Björn Söder, Markus Wiechel, Yusuf Aydin, Erik Hellsborn, Arin Garabed, Hakan Svenneling , Alexander Christiansson and Magnus Oskarsson.

In the statement, the Swedish MPs expressed “deep concern over the installation of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan in the Lachin Corridor.”

They emphasized that this move by Azerbaijan disrupts the efforts for establishing trust in the peace process and is an explicit violation of the clause 6 of the 9 November 2020 statement.

“We repeat that there must be free and unimpeded movement of persons and goods along the Lachin Corridor. We call on the sides to resume peace talks and refrain from provocations and hostilities along the border.”
