New legislation setting higher minimum wage takes effect

YEREVAN, JANUARY 3, ARMENPRESS. New legislation entered into force January 1, 2023 which brought the minimum wage from 68,000 drams to 75,000 drams.

Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Head of Department of Labor and Employment Zhora Sargsyan told ARMENPRESS that the increase in the minimum wage will lead to an average of 30% increase of salary in private and public sectors.

“Particularly, the salary of employees in the governmental system will grow around 28,5%, and around 31,5% in the private sector,” Sargsyan said.

The new legislation also increases the minimum hourly remuneration.
