YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Latest technologies and their constant development are going to be the key players of the media field in the modern world. This was the conclusion of various experts, journalists and social media representatives participating in the Global Media Congress held in Abu Dhabi on November 15-17.

The Congress, which was taking place for the first time in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was attended by more than 1200 participants. Dozens of discussions, seminars and workshops were held during the Congress.

The participants pointed out that the latest technologies could both help organize the work of the media and cause also serious problems. In particular, they touched upon the fight against fake news and the necessity for fact-checking mechanisms.

The Congress also addressed the topic of media literacy and the need for educating literate societies from this perspective. The experts noted that schools and higher educational institutions are responsible for educating a media-literate society as fake news could create serious security challenges for countries. 

The Congress participants stressed the need for bigger investments  for trainings of media representatives and for raising their professional qualities, providing them with broader opportunities of fact-checking, which in its turn will contribute to creating a high-quality and reliable content.

The Global Media Congress was held under the patronage of UAE H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Affairs. The event was organized by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The organizers announced that the next Congress will take place on November 14-16, 2023.
