Works to restore memorial part of Vahan Teryan House-Museum launched in Gandza, Georgia 

GANDZA, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Preparations for restoring the memorial part of the Vahan Teryan House-Museum have started in the Georgian village of Gandza, Director of “Support to Javakheti” Foundation Samvel Mkoyan told ARMENPRESS on the sidelines of the tour organized within the framework of an event dedicated to Armenian poet Vahan Teryan.

“In 2021, with the support of the Ninotsminda municipality and philanthropists, the exhibition hall of the Teryan House-Museum was restored at the first stage. Currently, with the second stage, we have launched the preparations for restoring the memorial part. We have conducted geodetic research, are developing the final design to see how the memorial part will look like. The project will be finalized soon and then we will start the construction works”, he said.

Researcher at the Museum Liza Abgaryan said that the restoration of the memorial part is a necessary. The walls are wet, there are some collapses. As for the visitors to the Museum, she said that most of the visitors are from Armenia, but they also have visitors of other nationalities, including Georgians.

During the tour the guests also had a chance to visit the Jivani House Museum, Lake Paravani and the beautiful sites of Akhalkalaki.

In 2019 during the Teryan Days, the “Support to Javakheti” Foundation announced the readiness to restore the Vahan Teryan House-Museum as it was in poor condition. In 2021 the exhibition hall of Teryan House-Museum opened in the village of Gandza in Javakheti. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the war, the Foundation managed to implement the first stage of the program - the restoration of the exhibition hall. The second stage is dedicated to the restoration of the memorial part, and with the third stage the entire complex will be restored.
