Armenia’s role in EAEU grows: Minister sees need for revising distribution of Union’s budget

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Since mid-2021 Armenia is already in the status of a donor in terms of the customs duties paid to and received from the EAEU budget. In other words, it gives more than it receives, therefore, there will be a need to redistribute the Union’s budget in the near future, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said during the parliamentary standing committees’ debate of the 2023 state budget draft.

“Since the middle of the last year Armenia is already in the status of a donor in terms of the customs duties that were paid to and received from the EAEU budget. In other words, we give more, than we receive. Discussions are underway, and during the EAEU session our Prime Minister also said that there will be a need to revise the distribution of the EAEU budget in the near future. In fact, being a smaller country we are quite a large donor, and there is a need for moving on a little fairly regarding the distribution”, he said.

The minister added that Armenia has quite activated its own programs in the EAEU, is coming up with more initiatives and is trying to further strengthen its role in the Union. According to the minister, the fact that Armenia’s role and reputation is growing in the EAEU is obvious. “The proposals of Armenia are becoming decisive on numerous matters. Many listen to our proposals. Our role in the EAEU is growing”, he stated.

He also informed that they are taking actions to include the goods of Armenian companies into the Eurasian Register of Industrial Goods.
