Over 1000 pieces of artwork left behind in Shushi

STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Artsakh authorities say they have documented 1026 pieces of artwork of both museum and private collections that are left in Shushi.

The data was presented by the State Council for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of the Occupied Territories of Artsakh on October 19.

“I can’t say for sure that this list is final because it’s possible that there could be other collection owners whom were are unaware of at this moment,” the council’s coordinator Sergey Shahverdyan said.

The most difficult process is discovering the cultural values included in those collections, he added. The lists of the collections were also left in Shushi.

“We have to document it again. These lists also have an evidence basis, they include images and videos,” Shahverdyan said.
