Pashinyan says Erdogan meeting not ruled out

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. As of this moment the possible meeting between PM Nikol Pashinyan and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Prague is neither confirmed nor ruled out.

“Neither us nor the Turkish side have ruled out a meeting between me and Erdogan. It depends on several circumstances. There is an EU-organized event where both Turkey and we are invited. Both us and they must decide on the participation in that summit or the format of participation, and in case of participation whether or not the meeting will take place is another matter. I have a decision to go to Prague, I plan to participate in the summit, and I can say that at this moment a meeting is not ruled out. But I can’t say that it is confirmed either,” Pashinyan said.

In case of a meeting taking place, the agenda will include opening of borders and normalization.

Asked whether or not the Artsakh issue will be discussed, Pashinyan said: “When regional security matters will be discussed, many issues will be discussed. It also depends on our conversation. It will be our first meeting and the issues depend on how the meeting will proceed.”

He said that there is no signal or agreement that the meetings of the Armenia-Turkey normalization envoys are suspended, but at the same time the timeframes or location of the next meeting isn’t yet determined.
