Armenia, Jordan ready to realize potential for development of bilateral relations

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and Jordan are ready to take practical measures to fully realize potential for development of cooperation in different spheres, ARMENPRESS reports Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said in a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Al Safadi.

“We are optimistic over giving new nature to Armenian-Jordanian political and economic relations. Of course, there is unrealized potential for developing relations in a number of spheres. But today I can confidently say that there is bilateral readiness to take practical steps to fully realize that potential”, Mnatsakanyan said, adding that there are quite promising perspectives in the spheres of  high technologies, agribusiness, tourism, pharmacy and other spheres, where it’s really possible to take very practical steps. “And today we were able to outline what depends on us – create platforms where our business representatives will be able to reach concrete agreements”, the Armenian Minister said, emphasizing the establishment of direct flights between Yerevan and Amman, which will foster bilateral relations.

The interlocutors also discussed a broad range of international and regional issues. FM Nalbandyan also presented the position and approaches of Armenia on the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, emphasizing the importance of implementing the agreements of creating peace-oriented atmosphere and preparing the peoples for peace.

FM Mnatsakanyan expressed confidence that Ayman Al Safadi’s visit will open a new page of bilateral relations.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Al Safadi assessed tourism as a key direction for the development of relations with Armenia.

“We have rather moderate trade and economic relations with one another. We tried to find the areas where cooperation can be boosted. Tourism is one of the key directions for that”, he said.

The Jordanian FM said they are very proud to have such a viable Armenian community in Jordan.

“We have to carry our preparatory works so as our relations move forward from now on. This was a very successful meeting, there is promising potential. Both sides are committed to develop relations. We are countries will numerous similarities”, Ayman Al Safadi said.
