YEREVAN, AUGUST 9, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is on a visit to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the Eurasian Inter-Governmental Council session.

Ahead of the session PM Pashinyan had a meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in the morning of August 9, the Armenian PM’s Office reported.

Welcoming PM Pashinyan in the town of Cholpon-Ata in Issyk-Kul Oblast, the Kyrgyz President said:

“Dear Nikol Pashinyan, welcome to Issyk-Kul.

We are very happy that you’ve come, we are happy to welcome you here. You are a much honored guest for us. I would like to note that not only me but all Kyrgyz people know you, know your political activities. Your personal participation in today’s Eurasian Inter-Governmental Council session will contribute to the development of cooperation in the Eurasian area. I am very happy that you are here. Thank you.”

Thanking for the warm reception, PM Pashinyan said: “Dear Sooronbay Jeenbekov, I am very happy to see you, and of course, it is very pleasant to be hosted here. This is overall my first visit to Kyrgyzstan. I haven’t been here before, I haven’t yet managed to see Issyk-Kul. We certainly have many issues to discuss, which concern both our relations in the Eurasian territory and bilateral ones. I have gotten acquainted with this year’s statistics, growth is observed in our trade turnover. Of course the share is still very little, but I think that we must work in the direction of utilizing the entire potential for the trade turnover to grow for the benefit of the development of our countries. I believe that the opportunity which the Eurasian Economic Union is providing can be packaged and fully utilized. Of course, if I can put it this way, we are EEU small countries and we have many common interests. This certainly doesn’t mean that we have some kind of problems with other colleagues, we simply understand each other’s problems easier and we can develop the constructive cooperation which exists between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Thank you”.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the level of political relations between the two countries and reiterated readiness to develop cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

Pashinyan and Jeenbekov discussed issues related to strengthening political dialogue, deepening bilateral trade-economic partnership and increasing trade volumes.

The upcoming Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session due in October in Yerevan was also discussed.

Other issues were also discussed. And in this context President Jeenbekov spoke about the domestic development in Kyrgyzstan.
