Lake Sevan water level declines 4 cm in one year

GAVAR, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS. The water level of Lake Sevan has dropped 4 centimeters this year compared to last year’s February 12 data, the HayHydroMet Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

As of February 12, 2019 the Lake Sevan is situated at an altitude of 1900 meters and 39 centimeters above sea level: last year, the indicator was 1900 meters and 43 centimeters.

The Arpa–Sevan tunnel, which is used for recovering the water level, hasn’t yet been used this year.

Lake Sevan, located in Gegharkunik province, is one of the largest freshwater high-altitude (alpine) lakes in Eurasia.

It is a popular summer tourist destination.
