President Sargsyan receives newly-appointed EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on December 1 held a meeting with newly-appointed EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, press service of the Presidential Office told Armenpress.

The Armenian President congratulated Toivo Klaar on his appointment and said he is happy that this important mission was trusted to an experienced diplomat. President Sargsyan expressed hope that Toivo Klaar’s activity will positively contribute to not only the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at peacefully settling the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, but also will give new impetus to the Armenia-EU ties.

The President noted that good working environment has been established with the former EU Special Representative Herbert Salber and expressed hope that the work with the newly-appointed Special Representative will develop with the same spirit.

The EU Special Representative said the goal of his mission is to assist the activity of the OSCE Minsk group Co-Chairs, and he personally will spare no efforts for contributing to the peaceful settlement process of the NK conflict.

Toivo Klaar stated that by the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement the EU and Armenia open a new chapter in the history of their relations and expressed hope that he will be able to contribute to developing and deepening these relations.
