Government to privatize major state-owned companies, 36 billion drams in proceeds expected

YEREVAN, MAY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government approved the 2017-2020 privatization program, under which 47 state-owned companies are planned to be privatized – 23 of which under the previous program.

Arman Sahakyan, head of the state property management department, said during the Cabinet meeting that several major companies have been presented for privatization.

The companies include Haypost – the national post operator of Armenia, HayFilm movie studio, the Government’s Reception House, Hrazdan Sports Complex CJSC, the state-owned shares of Yerevan’s jewelry factory, Research Institute of Spa Treatment and Physiotherapy, the Fanarjyan National Oncology Center, the Radioisotope Production Center and others.

The state is expected to gain 35-36 billion drams from alienation of the companies.
