Criminal proceedings launched over illegal logging in Yerevan, suspect arrested

YEREVAN, APRIL 11, ARMENPRESS. A criminal case was launched by the Davitashen district Prosecutor’s Office on the illegal logging case in the district.

Law enforcement agencies identified the man who illegally cut the trees in front of the Dolphin pool in Aghababyan Street and detained him at 11:30 on April 10.

The man confessed that he had cut 23 poplar trees with a chainsaw on April 8 at 10:30.

It turned out that 29 trees (elms and poplars) were illegally cut in the area, with damages comprising 2,860,000 drams.

The man was remanded in custody under the criminal code for the dangerous public act.

Notice – Suspect is innocent until proven guilty by the Court of Law.
