YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. By creating statehood in 1991 the people of Artsakh implemented its inalienable right to self-determination, “Armenpress” reports Chairman of France-Artsakh Friendship Circle François Rochblau announced, hailing the statement of French President Francois Hollande saying that Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled based on the principle of self-determination.

“The President’s announcement, clearly outlining the prospect for international recognition of this independence, should be praised. The mission of our Circle is to support any step aimed at regional peace and stability. Therefore, we support the proposal of President Hollande to organize a meeting”, Rochblau added.

He underlined that in order to raise the effectiveness of the negotiations it is necessary to reaffirm commitment to the trilateral agreement of 1994 and bring the 3 sides, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, together to the negotiation table.

During the annual dinner of the Coordination Council of the Armenian Organizations of France, President Francois Hollande talked about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, stating: “Clashes are over, dialogue has started and ceasefire is reached but we cannot be satisfied by a ceasefire, since it is not a solution. We have to launch real talks aimed at the conflict resolution. It will be a huge mistake to think that the situation has stabilized. We have to refer to the elements necessary for the conflict settlement enshrined in the Madrid principles. We also know that when those principles are applied, they should be based on the right to self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh and for the purpose of taking this path France will organize a new meeting with Armenia and Azerbaijan”.
