Fallen Armenian soldiers of December Azerbaijani incursion posthumously awarded by President Sargsyan

YEREVAN, JANUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan posthumously awarded the Armenian servicemen who were killed during the Azerbaijani incursion on December 29 in Tavush province, Armenia.

Lt. Shavarsh Melikyan was posthumously awarded the “Valor” Medal, and Privates Erik Abovyan and Edgar Narayan the “Military Service” Medal.

The awards were handed over to the parents of the fallen soldiers by President Sargsyan during a ceremony in the Presidential Palace on January 28 – Army Day.

Azerbaijani forces attempted a sabotage infiltration in the Armenian state border south-east of Chinari village, Tavush province in the morning of December 29.

Azerbaijani forces were pushed back, suffering losses and WIAs, including in the military positions.

The Armenian side also suffered losses during the combat. During the battle for defending the Armenian state border, Senior Lieutenant Shavarsh M. Melikyan, Private Edgar G. Narayan and Private Erik G. Abovyan were killed.
