Average nominal salary in Armenia’s public sector is 156 thousand 196 AMD

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. As of October, 2016 the average nominal salary (without removing taxes) in Armenia’s public sector is 156 thousand 196 AMD, whereas that of the private sector is 225 thousand 500 AMD, Head of Labor Statistics Department of the National Statistical Service of Armenia Lusine Kalantaryan told reporters on December 9, reports “Armenpress”.

“The private sector exceeds the public sector by 1.4 times, however, there are sectors where the public salary exceeds that of the private one”, she said.

The highest wage is in Syunik province - 216 thousand 625 AMD. “The highest average salary is in Kapan province (260 thousand 500 AMD), then comes Yerevan (200 thousand 384 AMD)”, she said.

Aragatsotn province has the lowest average salary – 129 thousand AMD, Shirak province (136 thousand 300 AMD) and Vayots Dzor (150 thousand AMD).

The highest average salaries were registered in information, communication sectors – 386 thousand 649 AMD. The next highest paid sector is the financial insurance sector with 377 thousand 600 AMD and the industrial sector with 250 thousand AMD.

“The lowest salaries are in the field of culture (113 thousand 155 AMD), agricultural sector (118 thousand 910 AMD) and education field (122 thousand 631 AMD)”, she said.
