Armen Ashotyan: Improving quality of education will increase number of foreign students

YEREVAN, AUGUST 5, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Raiesi. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, welcoming the guest, Minister Armen Ashotyan referred to the current cooperation and development prospects in education, mentioning that cultural-educational dialogue is one of the main platforms of intergovernmental relations.

The interlocutors referred to the problems of Iranian students studying in Armenia which were mainly connected to the organization of education. Armen Ashotyan emphasized that the Ministry is interested in larger numbers of Iranian students studying in Armenia. At the same time the Minister underlined that stricter control over the quality of education has been imposed in the recent years, especially for foreign students in order not to encounter the problem of non-recognition of Armenian diplomas abroad. “This is the result of the policy consistently implemented by the Ministry which will promote the number of foreign students with expectations to get quality education in Armenia», the Minister mentioned.

The Iranian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Ministry mentioning that it always meets the needs of Iranian students. He also expressed readiness to support the implementation of Armenian-Iranian educational programs, stressing that there exists multi-level cooperation particularly in research sector.
