Ireland’s Sinn Fein political party speaker urges government to recognize the Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, 22 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. Sean Crowe, speaker for political affairs of the Sinn Fein political party, which is the political wing of the Irish Republican Army, has called on the Irish government to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, as posted on the Irish political figure’s official website, according to “Armenpress”. “This year my colleague Aengus O Snodaigh submitted to the parliament a petition, urging the Irish government to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide in the year marking the 100th anniversary. April 24th is the day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.
His answer was totally inadequate. He stated that the Irish government has not adopted and will not adopt a position on that issue, unlike the issues of the other genocides of the 20th century such as the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide,” Crowe said, adding that there are verbal, written and diplomatic testimonies proving the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire.
