YEREVAN, APRIL 17, ARMENPRESS: The President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck may call the Armenian Genocide by its name on April 23. Armenpress reports that the German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel wrote about it, adding that this step of the German President cannot bring honor to the Government of Germany, which avoids the word “genocide”.
By the invitation of the Germany’s Christian Churches, Gauck will participate in the mass of the Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks to be held on April 23 at the Berlin’s Cathedral, becoming the first president of Germany, who participates in the Armenian Genocide commemoration ceremony. After the mass, Joachim Gauck will deliver a speech. The coalition considers the acceptance of the invitation to be a sign that the German President will use the word “genocide”.
