YEREVAN, 25 NOVEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The devaluation or adjustment of the Armenian Dram is due to several objectively existing factors that have an impact on the currency market in Armenia. During a briefing with journalists, member of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Armenak Darbinyan clarified the factors that contributed to the devaluation of the Armenian Dram. “The first factors that contributed to the adjustment of the exchange rate of the Armenian Dram were external factors, meaning the developments taking place in the economies of Armenia’s partnering countries, including the economic downfall and the devaluation of the national currency. For instance, the developments unfolding in the economy of the Russian Federation had to have an impact on Armenia. The other external factor was the valuation of the dollar in several countries. The dollar was rising in the region and in countries of the European Union, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary and other countries. The annual devaluation in those countries had reached 8-11 percent,” Darbinyan said, according to “ArmenPress”.
