Bicycle becomes popular in Armenia

YEREVAN, JUNE 1, ARMENPRESS: In the first three months of 2013 the import of the bicycles to the Republic of Armenia has increased by 61% in comparison with the same period of the previous year. As reported by Armenpress, in the first three months of 2013 14 thousand 700 bicycles were imported to Armenia with the total customs value of 268 thousand 200 USD. In the same period of the year of 2012 9 thousand 100 bicycles were imported to Armenia. According to the data provided by the State Revenue Committee at the Government of the Republic of Armenia, during the last three years the number of the imported bicycles has increased.

In 2010 25 thousand 400 bicycles were imported to the Republic of Armenia, in 2011 – 35 thousand 900, in 2012 – 39 thousand 300. 

China, India, the European Union, Taiwan and Japan produce the major part of the bicycles of the world. In 2013 more than 56 million bicycles were produced in the world.

Bicycle has significant advantages compared to other vehicles. It is environmentally clean, wholesome, does not require fuel expenses, allows quickly overcome the traffic jams, etc.
