200 Lebanese-Armenians received Armenian passports

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 15, ARMENPRESS. Solemn ceremony of passport presentation was held in the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lebanon on February 14-15.

The Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informed "Armenpress" that the ceremony launched by the anthem of the Republic of Armenia. After the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan addressed to the attendees and congratulated them. In his speech he laid a heavy emphasis on the fact that recently a great interest towards the homeland has been recorded among the Lebanese-Armenians. And this interest has found its expression in the rapid growth of the number of applications to receive the Armenian citizenship. Among other things the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan highly appreciated the significant role of the Armenian community in Lebanon in the political, spiritual, and cultural life of entire Diaspora. Also he noted that it's a great honor to become an Armenian citizen and everybody must be glad for it.

To note, in recent weeks, Armenia's Embassy in Lebanon also presented Armenian passports to about 60 Syrian-Armenians, who are temporarily residing in Lebanon because of the political developments in Syria.
