UN Sec.Gen. calls Syrian crisis “collective failure”
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS.UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says failing to reach the settlement of the Syrian crisis is a “collective” failure. The Syrian crisis is lasting for more than 5 years.
"It is very heartbreaking and it is very regrettable that we still see so many people, children, women are dying… because of the lack of political leadership and vision and humanity by the leaders of Syria… This may be recorded as one of the failures of the United Nations, but it is sort of a collective failure," Ban Ki-moon told CNN in a Tuesday interview, which was dedicated to the forthcoming end of his tenure, Sputnik News reports.
After almost a decade in office, Ban Ki-moon is due to step down in the beginning of 2017. He will be succeeded by Antonio Guterres.
